Curriculum resource alignment is about more than just having the right books in the classroom. It’s about ensuring that our instructional materials are carefully curated, evidence-based, and aligned with state standards. By doing this, we can reduce the burden of content creation during non-contract time, giving our educators the freedom to focus on what truly matters—teaching and supporting our students.
But the benefits don’t stop there. When our curriculum resources are aligned across the district, educators can learn from each other and from proven methods. This means less time reinventing the wheel and more time customizing lessons to meet the unique needs of their students. Plus, district-wide scope and sequence alignment will make it easier for students who transfer within the district to integrate seamlessly, ensuring they have similar course knowledge along similar timelines.
Supporting Our Teachers
I recognize that our teachers often take on added responsibilities beyond their contract, which can be overwhelming. That’s why our efforts to align curriculum resources are so important. By providing our teachers with the tools they need, we can reduce the need for content creation during non-contract time and alleviate some of the burden they face.
But we’re not stopping there. Our Team LS framework provides a valuable structure for navigating other issues that may arise. By continuing to refine and support this process, I’m confident we can better support our teachers’ workload and well-being. After all, when our teachers thrive, our students thrive.
